Prayer News

We appreciate our many prayer contacts, especially those in our key churches in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. These individuals share this prayer news with their churches each month, and they keep us informed of what is happening on the home front! Prayer is a vital part of our ministry, we are continually looking for faithful believers to pray for us. If you would like to represent us as a prayer contact in your church, please email us at prayerpartners(at)submerging.org.

Psalm 23.5 concludes with the profound phrase, "my cup runneth over." This is exactly how we have been feeling this month. Not the cup of suffering or the cup of busyness, but the cup of God's fulness as we see Him at work in so many wonderful ways.

At the beginning of April, we took a weekend retreat with Joy and 4 of her friends. Two of these were non-believers; one of them, Jess, listened intently as we shared the Gospel message. A week later at school, Joy and her friend Rachel (who had been with us at the retreat), were confronted by Jess inquiring as to how to become a follower of Jesus--and the girls led her to Christ right there on the spot!

Joy has experienced much pain with the sudden breakup from her boyfriend of over 12 months. In spite of her emotional turmoil, she has grown much closer to God and has been sharing the message of God's sustaining love and with many of her friends.

Kerrie (age 25), who came to Christ in March, shared that her life is changing in marvellous ways. Coming from a non-Christian home, she is learning by leaps and bounds and reading the Bible on her own. She even prayed aloud during our disciple training session! He husband Phil, also now a believer, is showing signs of growth as well.

This month, we started a new training group with two African families. They are so excited about learning how to share their faith in Australia. What a joy to hear them as the sang songs in Swahili and praised God for bringing them to Tasmania--not just for their safety, but to give them a mission to make Jesus known among the people here!

We attended the commissioning of Moses Otto (another African immigrant) as the new chaplain of Claremont Primary School. A wonderful joy to see this, and so glad that some Australian public schools allow Christianity to be taught.

The "church at Lisa's house" is buzzing with excitement and growth. With 5 of the 16 having been baptized in the past 6 months, everyone (except the 3 babies) are being trained and are beginning to share their faith with others.
